Backend Process

back end process A process which is carried out behind the facade of the Web interface presented to an ECOMMERCE user. These processes are usually carried out by conventional non-Internet technologies. For example, a typical back end process which is carried out behind a WEB SITE that sells some product is inventory maintenance, where sales are deducted from stock and new deliveries of products are added to stock. Such a process would be carried out using conventional database management software.
